Dorchester County is a fast-growing community in the Charleston region where preserving land for industrial development is needed as the housing market booms. The strategic plan calls for investments in product and talent to develop the clusters of aerospace, automotive, bioscience, technology and design, advanced logistics, and marine. The plan also calls for reducing workforce barriers and supporting innovation.
The strategic planning process included a cluster and workforce analysis, SWOT analysis, product assessment, marketing strategy, and talent attraction and development strategies. Investors and stakeholders were engaged for input in the planning process. The resulting strategic plan is actionable. The DCED team launched implementation in 2023.
